Thanks Shannon for handling Keeper to these wins and a special thanks to Marge Brown for handling Hershey on the Friday to her first BOS and to Kerri Van Eaton for handling her to her second on the Sunday. Way to go Team Schaetzend!!

April 16-18, 2010---Edmonton Kennel Club Show---100th Anniversary Show!
Keeper does not take BOB under Judge Carla Molimari from Portugal and Hershey is bumped out too! Keeper then takes BOB and is pulled twice for the Group ribbons but ends up with fifth spot!! Too bad there is not a fifth place ribbon!! Hershey is in standing season and though she tries to be good, she can't seem to get a break this weekend. Oh well, she will get her coat back and get her head on straight again for the Canadaian National---I hope!

BMDCC Canadian National Specialty 2010 April 2-5 in Chilliwack, B.C.
April 2: Puppy Sweeps: Hershey wins her class and ends up with BOS in Puppy Sweeps! Way to go Hershey and Shannon!
April 3: Keeper and Hershey are both in the Best of Breed Class and Keeper was pulled out of line for the boys and Hershey was overlooked completely. She looked beautiful and stacked well and should have done so much better. Anyway, Keeper and the Bred By dog(Brisco from Carol Arbuthnot) and Dillon(Anne Summers boy) were told to run three abreast down the center of the field and then stack. At this time the judge said she made a terrible mistake and then went back to the lineup and called the Bred By male to be her BOB and the Bred By female(Payton by Sherri Schrool) to be her Best of Opposite. She then called Dillon to be an AOM winner and left Keeper standing in the center by himself! He did not recieve anything from her and everyone was wondering what was going on with the judging! What a day! Oh well it was just another confusing dog show, wasn't it!

Renaissance Show Chilliwack B.C. April 2-5
Keeper and Hershey went in as Specials in these classes. The judge pulled Keeper and Abbott(Dillon son) out to run the ring together. He picked Abbott as BOB and Hershey as BOS. She looked lovely! Thanks Tracey for great handling! Keeper was appreciated but not recognized by Judge Edward MacDonald. Saturday, both dogs were pulled because of the Specialty.
Sunday, judge Karen Erickson, aprreciated Keeper again but put Abbott up once again after running them both and wanted to put Hershey up as BOS to him but she decided to be a prancing pony! It was too funny! Everyone enjoyed the show---except maybe me, but she could not be judged with this gait and so the BOS went to another girl! Oh well she had fun anyway!
Monday, Keeper and Abbot were pulled again(out of 48 bernese) and asked to run together. Again Abbott was given the nod and Hershey took BOS to him. This was a Breed Booster so there were lovely prizes to be won! Way to go Tracey and Hershey! What a show!! The Judge was Dr. Robert Smith of Virginia.

BMDCA National May 10-15 Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Puppy Sweeps: Judge Lori Jodar
There were 20 bitches in the 15-18 month old class and Hershey was one of them. They were very strong girls! Hershey made her cut and was brought back for the final cuts and seemed to be placing very high. By the end tho she was moved to fifth position and not given a ribbon. Oh well, she looked lovely and moved like a dream. My sweet Hershey girl!
Open Dogs: Judge Satu Yla-Mononen
There were 26 very strong boys out there with Keeper. Keeper made all the cuts and went in for best male in his class. He was given third place. He was also asked to participate in the Judges Seminar so that new judges to the breed would know what to look for in a true working bernese. What a compliment to his type and character! Thank you Jeni for doing such a wonderful job with him. He looked magnificent all the way around!
12-18 month Bitches: Judge Debbie Wilkins
There were 39 bitches in this ring and the type was there but the girls were all at different stages of growth. It was not hard to find the ones that stood out as being all together! Hershey made her cuts and was put in second place. She was here right until the very last moment of stacking and then switched out with the girl who was behind her. She also took third in her class and I was very proud of her! Her very first US National and it was a very big show---1178 dogs entered and she handled it so very well. You could say she made a Splash in Wisconsin!! Both dogs handled very well and were appreciated for who they were so all in all it was a very successful show.

11/10/10: Keeper and I venture into the Ralley Obedience ring for our first time. We had just four days to practice---I was ill . So with only a wish and a prayer we tried for a Ralley leg. Nerves---yup. But Keeper shone through again! He took two High in Class that weekend under Judges Margaret Chandler and Marion Postgate. I know a whole lot more now and hope to complete this title really soon! Then on to Advanced and traditional Obedience! Woo Hoo! Thanks to all who stood by me to teach and calm and then cheer! You know who you are.
