Schaetzend Kennel Reg'd
Welcome

Schaetzend Kennel Reg'd
(German: pronounced 'shot zend" meaning "To Cherish")

Hello! My name is Denise Knight and I got my first berner in 1997. I started this kennel in 2000. I looked for a name that reflected how I felt about my dogs. The word Schaetzend is German and means "To Cherish". I have had many dogs and each one, I hope felt CHERISHED. This is a very special breed of dogs with a love for people beyond mere words. Take a moment to view this site and experience some of the highs and lows of my life with the wonderful Bernese Mountain Dog.

Keeper takes Fourth in Open Dogs at the US National!! Look for detail on his page! Way to go Keeper!!

Keeper does it! He takes a Group 1 in the N. A.C.A. show---the third largest outdoor show in Canada! What a thrill for us both! More info will be available on his page soon! This along with four Best of Breeds, and two pulls in the group ring to top off an outstanding weekend. Keep checking back to see what he is up to now.

Keeper does it! Keeper is confirmed #2 Bernese Mountain Dog in Canada for the year 2009! Way to go Keeper! Thanks to Shannon Grabill for pilotting Keeper to his many Group Placements and this wonderful achievement!

Keeper does it!! We took three Group 1sts and  taa daa, we got a Best in Show!! Well done Keeper and Shannon! The competition was strong but you guys managed to outshine them all. Way to go!

Keeper takes another Best In Show! In two back-to-back weekends, with multiple handlers, Keeper pulls off mega wins! At the Grande Prairie show, he takes a GR.1 and a Gr.3, with Linda Yaslinski on the lead. Next with Julianne Dupree handling, he takes a Gr. 3, finally, with top Junior handler, Byron Fulkerth, Keeper takes a Gr.3 and a Gr.2! Next weekend, Shannon is back and they strutt their stuff! Keeper takes four Gr. 1's and another Best in Show! Way to go Shannon and Keeper!

Keeper does it again! After a wonderful first half of the year (2010), he attains his Grand Championship, with the guidance of his handler,Shannon Grabill. Due to my illness, I was not able to accompany him to his only three shows this fall but he still did everything he was asked to do. He also took two High In Class in Ralley-O, with me handling him, and finished under the guidance of Cindy Bazin, with a Third in Class, to get his RN award. So now he can be called MBIS GCh. Gatekeeper Vom Gipfelfeuer RN. What a handle! What a dog!
